Patrul Rinpoche was one of the greatest Tibetan Buddhist teachers of the nineteenth century. He was the founder of the ecumenical movement in Tibet, which brought about a renaissance in Tibetan thought. Famous for his direct style of teaching, Patrul Rinpoche shunned high monastic office and lived the life of a homeless wanderer, writing his book in a simple hermitage under an overhanging rock.
