Back Cover:

His Holiness the Dalai Lama on....

Decision Making - "When the leader of a company makes a decision, it affects all the employees and many others who buy the company's products or act as suppliers, and therefore the quality of business decisions is critical.... Leaders who have the right intention and are very thorough in thinking through the effects of their decisions will make fewer mistakes."

Ethical Leadership - "A leader will be respected only when they act according to the principles in which they say they believe.... Leaders in an organisation who don't lead with ethical discipline put their companies, their employees, and their shareholders at risk.... And it is not enough that they simply act ethically themselves; they should choose partners and suppliers that operate at a high level of responsibility."

Wealth and Happiness - " I believe that governments and organisations, which bring people into contact with one another, as well as create jobs and wealth, have a very important role to play in these questions of the standard of living and human happiness.... Wealth is obviously important for business, and wealth can be an important force for good.... Leaders must have vision to create wealth, and also know the right and proper ways to earn and use that wealth."

Leading with Wisdom - " Wisdom is essentially.... the ability to see things as they are. In the business world, wise leaders are those who use Right View and Right Conduct to decide what has to be done to safeguard the long-term future for the company or organisation."

Inside Front Cover:

Born out of a decade of discussion between His Holiness the Dalai Lama and international management consultant Laurens van den Muyzenburg, The Leader's Way is the unique meeting of two worlds: the global business landscape and Buddhism. At first sight, these seem to be an unlikely pairing. After a closer look, however, the best business practices and Buddhist principles in fact has much in common; both are concerned with making rational, holistic decisions and turning them into responsible, effective action. Indeed, the teachings of Buddhism have much to offer business leaders.
