Back Cover:

'We are all in one way or another in action twenty-four hours a day.' 'All things are in a state of flux, of perpetually becoming different.' 'All events and conditions arise by reason of previous events and conditions.'

With thoughts such as these in mind Christmas Humphreys, one of the most widely read proponents of Buddhism today and author of such popular books as Buddhism, The Buddhist Way of Life, and Zen Buddhism, set out to apply a philosophy based on Buddhist principles to the practical considerations of everyday life. In this richly varied book - originally entitled The Way of Action - he ranges over subjects of love, friendship and compassion, duty and responsibility, right and wrong, good and evil, to the more abstract concepts such as action and inaction, mind-development and the form of existential thinking which is the Western approach to Zen. Written in a delightfully entertaining and lively style, it provides stimulating and thought-provoking reading for all those who question the possibility of leading a Buddhist way of life in the twentieth century.

About the Author:

Care of Dharma (Buddhist) Books:

Dharma books contain sacred teachings and should be treated with respect. When not in use, keep them in a clean place, preferably on a high shelf. Avoid placing them directly on the floor or in places where they might be mistreated. If a Dharma book becomes damaged or worn, consider offering it to a Buddhist centre for proper handling or respectful disposal. By caring for these books, we honour the wisdom they contain and the path they illuminate.
